What this credit is
Airline direct or Amex Travel; $50 expires if unused that quarter
At $50 per calendar quarter, this credit is worth $200 a year — but only to someone who uses it in all 4 windows. Use it in half of them and it is worth $100.
Set against the card’s $550 annual fee, using this one credit in full covers 36% of it.
How the quarterly reset works
It resets at the start of each calendar quarter. Four windows a year, and the last few days of March, June, September and December are where this credit gets wasted. Unused quarters do not roll forward.
Cardful tracks this credit to the cent, shows how much of the current calendar quarter is still unclaimed, and reminds you before the window closes — which is the whole reason the app exists.
